Gibson Headers

I got a great deal from Joshua at High Horse Performance as part of the first LXForums.com group buy.  With 31 units sold the members more than sold out Gibson's first run.

I haven't had much time to keep this site updated lately, so I haven't had the time to write this up here.  My vehicle was the test unit for the first phase of LXForums' Great Intake Face-Off #3 (GIFO3), where headers were added to an intake and catback exhaust in a variety of stringently-designed dyno and track tests.  Look for all information on GIFO3 in its dedicated (sticky at the top) thread in LXForums' Intake / Exhaust / Performance area.

To tide you over before I get the chance to do a real write-up:

  1. They are worth the money.  Both in terms of sound and concrete benefits to performance.  These headers are one-third of the cost of long-tube headers that include high-flow cats, and probably provide 75% of the benefits.  Plus, if you use stock cats you maintain your CARB certification, while at the same time warding off the dreaded CEL that dogs many long-tube header owners.

  2. They provide good performance gain.  Not so much on the top end (I got very small gains in this regard... see GIFO3) but on the low end the curve is nicely bowed out to give more power where you want it - off the line

  3. They sound cool.  Isn't this the most important part?  In the beginning there isn't that much difference.  Over time this deepens to a significantly more badass burbly tone, without going to the point of being annoying at cruise.  As if the Zoomers exhaust wasn't intimidating enough.  Anyone who gets a faceful of your WOT exhaust will think twice about returning the favor.  Intimidation, baby!

Hey, read this:
This web site is actively used as a software test platform for my ContentMonger Pro content management software.  As such you may see weird things happen as I work, bugfix and experiment.  Hopefully it won't inconvenience you but if it does, sorry about that.  Whatever you see going on is very likely to fix itself shortly as I am aware that traffic on this site is now fairly significant.
