Misc Crap

Get the mudflaps (i.e. the "splash guards") or you will be very, very sorry. Those Continental tires like to kick stuff up. I presume the trait isn't going to be unique for the life of the car, and you'll be a lot happier without a lot of rusted chips in your bodywork.

Before I bought mine, I saw a Magnum in a parking lot that looked like someone had dragged cinderblocks out of its cargo area. Probably a kid not realizing the consequences to Dad's paint. The heavy plastic bumper gaurd for a measly $30 was a no-brainer after witnessing that disaster.

If I had wanted a car that was easy to clean I would have gotten it in silver, which happily hides weeks of sinful crud. Instead I got black. Brilliant black metal flake to be exact. And that means I'll be washing the car... well, perpetually.

So what the hell. Lets paint the brake calipers red. Not just red but "red red". Thats what I told the auto shop guy, who is doing it for $50 at the same time I get the Eibach springs put in. Its a bright, obnoxious Ferrari red. Just what I wanted :-).

For a touch of personalization I added a MOMO shift knob. What they call a combo of satin alloy and air-leather. Air-leather is a dark grey leather that matches the original. It also has little dents in the leather that give it sort of a golf-ball texture. Its not something you just have to have. Heck if I had my way I'd have picked out the skull with glowing red eyes, but that one was guaranteed NOT to pass the wife test, and I can just picture what my Mom would have said, having heard her opinion of my skull-and-bones license plate frame somewhat repeatedly.

I ordered a Husky rubber liner for the upper floor in the back. After a short time its easy to see that if you plan on tossing stuff into and onto the rear deck that you'll be gouging it up. The liner fixes that and also -- despite its smoothness -- helps take care of stuff sliding around back there.  It seems that the mildly grippy rubber -- very mildly grippy -- is a lot more grippy than smooth fabric.  I no longer have stuff moving around.

Hey, read this:
This web site is actively used as a software test platform for my ContentMonger Pro content management software.  As such you may see weird things happen as I work, bugfix and experiment.  Hopefully it won't inconvenience you but if it does, sorry about that.  Whatever you see going on is very likely to fix itself shortly as I am aware that traffic on this site is now fairly significant.
